Digital Literary Analysis Methodology:
From Words to Data.
Sastra Metrik processes written works through two integrated analysis phases: objective structural mapping and deep hermeneutic interpretation. This approach ensures every poetic aspect in the text is systematically observed before being synthesized into a complete understanding.
Non-Evaluative Observation Principle
This platform operates on the principle of observation, not judgment. We do not judge the aesthetic quality of a work, but rather present descriptive data about how linguistic patterns work within it.
Our methodology is designed to explain "what is in the text" using poetically trained large language models (AI), providing technical perspectives that are often overlooked by conventional reading.
Structural Analysis & Textual Morphometry
The first phase focuses on objective data extraction. Sastra Metrik performs quantitative measurements of the physical form of the text, which we refer to as textual morphometry.
- → Lexical Density & Diction
- → Semantic Domain Mapping
- → Figurative & Rhetorical Patterns
- → Rhythm & Sound Structure
Digital Hermeneutic Reading
Once the structural framework is formed, the system moves to the narrative interpretation phase. Using data from the first phase, the AI performs a hermeneutic reading to understand how those technical elements interact to build meaning.
The result is not a summary of the text, but a dialectical analysis that tries to capture the "breath" behind the structure — an effort to visualize text mechanics holistically.
Data Resilience System:We implement an asynchronous process where the structural phase is prioritized. If the hermeneutic phase encounters a technical failure, structural data remains fully saved so users do not lose their primary observation points.
Limitations & Result Optimization
Currently, Sastra Metrik is specifically optimized for poetry and essay texts in Indonesian. For maximum accuracy, we suggest text input with a length between 10 to 500 words.
Texts that are too short may not have enough patterns to be extracted, while very long texts may cause fragmentation in the hermeneutic reading.
“Sastra Metrik simply brings a small light to accompany the seeing of traces that are easily missed when lost in the jungle of words.”
